Khalsa means "pure" in Gurmukhi. This practice was developed by Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa and based on Kundalini Yoga and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan. It is not a modified yoga practice, rather very specific "birth yoga" designed to support a woman throughout her nine months of pregnancy as she experiences the enormous physical, emotional and spiritual changes that prepare her to create and welcome another human being into the world. This class also takes the time to discuss child birth education and community cultivation, with lots of opportunity to talk through these topics woven into the practice.

Movement and Breath for Post-Natal Restoration 

Our second chakra is the seat of creation, creativity, sex, and in the female body our connection to the earth and nature. When we give birth a woman may have the experience of 2nd chakra disconnect as her body processes the energetic shifts that come with the transformation of motherhood. 

Western medicine has given this feeling of deep loss names like post partum depression or baby blues. Many women feel a sense of emptiness and disconnect if the birth held trauma or unexpected turns like interventions or an unplanned c-section. Some women may be experiencing pain and discomfort around the recovery after birth and all of the changes and unfamiliar territory it may bring. 

In this workshop Malissa will use the following tools to help mothers restore and renew:

and a mini anatomy clinic

This session will include a handout folder, massage oil for each mother, and light refreshments.
